2024-03-25; March general craft class

2024/03/25

Last week I went to a general craft class. We were supplied with flour sack kitchen towels, small stencils, stencil brushes and acrylic paint.

We did have some masking tape to tape the stencil down, but nothing in the way to color the individual pieces. Using limited supplies here is what I was able to do:

We each got to try stenciling on two different towels. You can see lots of smudges, but once this is used for a kitchen clean up you’ll never know.

I practiced on the torn scrap first and then on the actual towels. Once the paint dried for a day, then these were heat set with an iron and were ready for use.

2024-03-24; watercolor basics class

2024/03/24

A few days ago I went to my first water color basics class. We just worked on techniques. I brought the backgrounds home and hopefully will be able to add them to a card in the near future!

2024-03-23; Vintage lace & vellum

2024/03/23

Last week I was challenged to make a vintage card with lace. I even found a bunch of old lace in my supplies along with a vintage looking decorative scrapbook paper (DSP).

Here is a closer look. I used brown vellum to keep in the vintage theme and also embossed the sentiment in dark brown.

2024-03-21; Remember the “splatter” stamp?

2024/03/21

Back in the day, one of the very popular stamps was something called a “splatter” stamp. All it is, is little dots. It is a nice addition to nearly any background as a filler or just visual interest.

Today, I show just a simple rainbow version of all of the splatters.

2024-03-19; One layer Just Because

2024/03/19

Remember shadow stamps? They were the hot item like 20 years ago? I have always liked them and have kept them in my stash. Today’s shadow stamp is a “swoosh”

All the images were just eyeballed and added to this one layer card.

2024-03-17; Happy St. Patrick’s Day

2024/03/17

Everyone says they are Irish on St. Patrick’s Day just so they can drink green beer. This card was made in February and I saved it to share for St. Patrick’s Day.

My coloring is my usual scribble. You don’t need to be an expert shader or colorist. You just have to give the impression of what you are trying to convey. You don’t see the actual scribbles unless you look at it close up like this.

2024-03-16; they sorta look like shamrocks

2024/03/16

I was flipping through some old stamp sets…OK, lets get real here; all my stamp sets are old. I have been only picking up “new” sets from rummage sales for a number of years now. But I digress. I saw “Fresh Cuts” by Stampin’ Up and thought the leaves looked similar to shamrocks; so I went with it.

A close view at the stacked shamrock images.

2024-03-15; Lucky you with shamrocks

2024/03/15

I used the scan-n-cut to cut assorted sized shamrocks. The background paper on the upper half of the card is something that started out as being a cream piece of colored card stock. I used a stencil, stamping & texture to get it to look as it is now.

I added a second layer of shamrock on the largest clover. The white vein lines are just some doodling.

2024-03-13; emboss those paper scraps.

2024/03/13

I don’t have much in the way of St. Patrick’s Day themed things. However; I did find a bunch of scraps. I cut them into about 1/2″ strips and added them to a metallic bronze card stock that I thought you’d be able to see better, but you really can’t.

I found the already cut out shamrock in my box of supplies.

2024-03-10; I’m the queen CR205-161

2024/03/10

I came across this sentiment and even found a crown to go with it. I used the crown image as an envelope seal. I also added a pull out message to the inside of the envelope (not pictured)

I recolored the crown after the photo. I decided the heart could stay pink, but the rest of it got colored an olive green so it would match better to the decorative scrapbook paper (DSP).
