2018-07-20; 4×4″ art tile

A stamping friend sent me a 4×4″ art tile in the mail.  I have not made one of these in a while so I’ll share what I put together to send back to her.

I took a green file folder and cut it into 4×4 pieces and glued two of them together.  Next I added a few layers of DP, gesso and texture paste.

While the texture paste was drying I pulled out a sentiment by Hampton Arts Laugh out Loud stamps.  The verse was stamped on a piece of white mulberry paper and using mat gel medium was glued down to the base.  The frame is an old chip board piece from a set of mini books purchased from the dollar store years ago.  This was painted with gesso, texture paste added, Dylusions spray inks and finally some gold Wink of Stella.

I have a box of purchased flowers by Recollections.  I pulled out a few of the flowers adding a blue metallic center that was gifted to me by Alice.  I’m slowly putting the box of embellishments that she gave me to use.  The leaves are a left over from the last stamp camp I went to.

Here you can see the texture on the DP from the texture paste.  l used a Tim Holtz ruler stencil (get it?  Ruler vs. rules?  I thought it was clever.)  The butterfly is a purchased item that was added with hot glue to give additional dimension.

In the background you can see that I also added excelsior grass and some cheese cloth.

Here are all of the purchased flowers I added. I also tucked in a few stamped/punched leaves to fill in.
