2018-03-12; wall decorations, stickers and homemade flowers

2018/03/12

Last weekend I spent making homemade flowers.  Here is a link to the description as to how that was done:  HOMEMADE FLOWERS     and now that you’ve seen how it was done, here are a few of the flowers that I added to today’s mixed media design.

And the card itself….  I started with 2 kinds of DP for mats and distressed the edges.  I distressed them so well that I put a pretty big tear in one side.  I ended up tucking a piece of old eyelet lace there so it looks like I did that on purpose.

Next I added a scrap of book page, painted the panel with gesso and attached the wood frame.  I added the sticker, sentiment, and flowers around the frame.  Lastly I used some Color Burst concentrated pigment powder to a pallet and sprayed with a little water.  I added the colors around  the frame with a paint brush and now the background matches the colors of the flowers.  (I used the same colors to make them too).  The last step was to tuck in some string and then add liquid pearls in bronze and ivory.

I found some really old items in my stash…here we have a wall sticker, kind of like wall paper.

This was a sticker that I bought on clearance.  It was combined with the central sentiment; I just cut it apart to make it all fit.  I believe the sheet of stickers was by Paper Studio from Hobby Lobby.

I also picked up some wood embellishments, stars and frame from there as well.  I used mat medium over the top of everything and also used it to stick the little wooden stars to the frame.  Here you can see the medium is still a little wet; don’t worry, it dries clear!

And one last look at the card before you go on about your day….
