2015-10-31; November swap prep-Winter!

It’s a rainy, gray, windy, poopy day. I’m in the basement looking ahead at swap cards that I will need. The next monthly swap theme is winter. That is what I worked on today.

I slid through Pinterest and saw a fall theme card with the square shape and large medallion. That gave me the starting point to create my design.

Here is the medallion, created from 5 different layers of Spellbinder dies. I found the very bottom layer at Joann’s on clearance for $3.99. I have only used it once or twice before. Using it makes me feel like it was worth the money. It does look like a large snowflake here, doesn’t it?

The snowman is an old standby. It is from a Close to My Heart set that I’ve had for years. I cut him out, paper pieced the scarf and hat. I added shading, yarn, die cut twigs and glitter to finish him off.

A snowman has to be standing in snow, so I created a snow drift for him by tearing white card stock, shading, gluing and then glittering the edges. I tucked the snowman partially behind one of the drifts.

And one last look at my winter theme card. The sentiment is by TAC (The Angel Company and a gift from my friend KellyRae.

The sparkle that you see around the upper part of the card is tinsel that I tucked in. I’m not sure it does anything for the design but the added sparkle is nice.

Thanks for stopping by today. I’m off to see what other cards I can get ready while I’m indoors today.
