2014-02-10 Gussied up note cards, before & after

2014/02/10

I have two nearly full boxes of pre-printed note cards that I picked up at rummage sales. This morning I remembered that there were some Valentine themed cards, all I needed to do was add to it a bit. Here is what I came up with…

This is the before & after picture. Basically I sliced off the bottom portion of the card and replaced it with a white punched border (Martha Stewart). The crimping was done with my Fiskars crimping tool.

Next I added the large flourish by Cherry Lynn (Romantic Flourish) die. I did add the sentiment Happy Valentines Day (by CraftSmart a dollar item at Michael’s Craft Store).

I found wooden hearts in a baggie among my rummage sale items. I pulled out some pink acrylic paint and coated it and while wet sprinkled with champagne colored glitter. To give it shine I just gave it a good coating with some hair spray.

I added a loopy bow and a tiny button tied with gold crochet cotton to finish the embellishing.

And one more look at the finished design…

I would much rather get the revised note card than the original. I hope the recipient thinks so too!

Your second card will certainly be a hit with whoever you send it to. It is absolutely lovely! Love that flourish you used too.

What a fabulous ‘after’. I’ve always passed up the boxes of notecards like that – never even dreamed of embellishing. The flourish and the border punch and the sweet little button … perfection.
