2013-12-13 Recycled fruit container!

Two cards for today! I had started working on this design that features a recycled fruit container (clear acetate and more about that in a bit). I knew that it would be perfect for this weeks CAS-ual Friday #123. The theme this week is all things cold and winter-ish. Christmas in the Mid-West is all that! So a Christmas card is the way to go.

Here is the clear acetate front. The fruit container that we bought from Sam’s Club was really heavy duty. I trimmed off all of the curves and edges and ended up with a usable piece and made it into my card front. The sentiment is stamped on the inside of the card with the clear acetate over the top.

To decorate the plastic from the fruit container I stamped the border from the set Celebrate by Autumn Leaves. This was stamped in white StazsOn and when dry, glitter glue added as accents.

The die cut poinsettia flower is made from the Spellbinder die Layered Poinsettia. Instead of using the center die in the set I added a dab of glitter glue and sprinkled with mini multi colored marbles.

And one last look; this time more of a frontal view. It’s a shame the camera doesn’t pick up the glimmer on this. It’s really quite pretty in real life. There is glimmer from the glitter glue on the bottom border; dots in the center of each snowflake looking flower and shimmer on the poinsettia leaves from Iridescent Medium that was brushed on.

Lest I forget, the sentiment is by Stampendous.

And now I have one more Christmas card to get in the mail!
