2012-03-05 What to do with left-over bits & pieces

Yesterday I made a card with lots-o-punched bits. I punched many extras so that I wouldn’t run out while creating the card. However, that leaves me with a bunch of bits. What to do?

Make a card of course, using up some of the bits and pieces. I only ran across a couple of little snafu’s while putting this card together, which because everything was punched went together pretty quickly. My first blunder boo-boo was not to think of what words would fit before I cut out the ivory oval. I only have the tiniest scrap left and no spares to be found. So I worked in reverse. I carried my oval to the words and looked for something that would fit. Unfortunately, it was an unmounted stamp and I have no idea who makes this appropriate sentiment for any rubber stamper in your life.

The glitter glue is still wet in this photo but it certainly lets you see the little blossoms and their seed pearl centers. I used a flourish die from Cherry Lynn and snipped it to bits to make curlicues fit where I thought they should go. I also added some Martha Stewart punched leaves as filler.

The 2nd snafu turned up when I went to add the heart brad to the center of the double layered bow. (Can’t be having any naked bows out there in the universe.) The prongs on the brad were not top to bottom so that it could be wrapped around the top & bottom of the bow….oh nooooooooooo. The are made so that the prongs are on the sides of the heart. I just whipped out my trusty side cutters and snapped those prongs off so fast it would make your head spin. I used a good dollop of crystal accents, which makes e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g stick together. In the background you might be able to see some of the leaves. I added some “veining” for a little glittery accent. What did I do before the Jelly Roll Glitter Pens?

I still have lots more punches left, so you may be seeing similar designs in the near future.

Beautiful card Bonnie, love how you have arranged the flowers around the oval sentiment, and speaking of sentiments that one is the best. Pretty color choices. Great use of the left over flowers. Beautiful work Bonnie. TFS!!! 😀

Very nice! I’ve always loved shimmery ribbon and you’ve really done an amazing job of creating a piece of beauty with it. I ran in to the same problem with a heart brad and never thought to cut the prongs as it was holding the bow together (faux bow), so I left it sideways. Thanks for sharing!
