2009-05-15 One-Stroke leaves, matted & mounted

2009/05/15

The other day I shared some one-stroke painting that I did. I was practicing my leaves.

In this you-tube video Donna Dewberry shows the basic’s of one-stroke painting. If you are interested in your own DVD, you can click on the sidebar picture of some of Donna’s DVD’s and it will take you to where you can purchase some.

I took one of the pieces that I did and have now matted and mounted it. I added some ribbon and a couple of punches and viola! I think it makes a really eye catching greeting card.

Here I’m showing a vellum butterfly that I punched using an EK Success 3-d punch. I had to finish snipping it with scissors but I do like all of the punches in the wings, so maybe it was worth the extra hand work. I also sewed on a couple of pearl seed beads. I think the sewing will hold better than glue. After I finished the hand work I used a snippet of 3-d mounting tape and added it to the words.

I’ve always wanted to learn how to do this kind of painting – you’re work is beautiful. Was it hard to learn?

Hi Linda, thank you for your sweet comment. Actually once I bought a DVD to watch while I practiced; it wasn’t hard at all. You get to see how Donna Dewberry holds the brush and what she is doing with the bristles. So in answer to your question; it really was easy and I’m really just a beginner. The style of painting MAKES your beginning tries look good!
