2009-05-10 Manly card with a hint of glitz

I’ve been working hard to come up with more manly cards. It can be a hard job considering 80% of my stamp supply is flowers.

I have seen lots of “scrap” cards. I’ve made one that uses strips of DSP glued to a base. Click here to see a sample of the carpet tape background. (Click HERE for a finished card sample using the carpet tape background). This is a sample of one of the versions using a word punch by Stampin’ Up. I grabbed my scraps of Basic Gray and punched a few pieces. I even found a stamped background that I’d made using the Stampin Up set Paint Prints (There are two pieces of this; they are the lightest cream colored punches). Then draw a glue line across the base card stock and lay down the punched pieces in a pleasing color arrangement. How easy is that?

The colors suggest “manly” to me. So in keeping with that instead of adding a bow or ribbon I got out my extra narrow scor-tape and layed it down across the card front. Then I just brushed on some scraps of metal flake. In real life this gives it a real glimmer in reds, oranges and golds.
