2013-02-27 Going with the Green for my First Flutterby Wednesday

2013/02/27

My card today is twofold; 1 to send a cricut cut card to a stamping friend who told me she just purchased a cricut. A huge step for her as she has been cutting everything by hand (no die cut machine such as Cuttlebug or Big Shot). Secondly, I decided at long last to try my hand at the Flutterby Wednesday challenge.

This weeks challenge was to have 3 layers (not including card base) and then be sure to include a fairy or butterfly. So here you have it.

I stamped one clover and fussy cut it out layering it with tiny flowers and a bow.

The butterfly is a punch by Martha Stewart. I added a drop of liquid pearls. And did you notice the flecks of gold? That is my Gold PearlEx added to hairspray giving the design an over-all shimmer.

My thanks to Bird’s Cards Blog for the generosity and sharing of her free cutting files.

If you have the equipment to cut this, here is the direct link to Birds Blog for the cutting file

Here is how you can make your own frugal PearlEx spray: A mini travel hair spray bottle and and 1/3 to 1/4 t. to it. Shake well then spray card stock. Be sure to shake with each spray as the PearlEx is heavy and immediately sinks to the bottom. The hairspray is the glue that holds the PearlEx to the cardstock.

I have two different techniques for spraying.
1-lay your project in a trash can (it catches all the over spray) and spray directly down into the can. That’s how I got I get heavier coverage with splatter marks.
2-spray the spray over the top of the trash can and then lift your card stock up through it for a light misting. It looks like expensive pearly card stock when you are done.

Hope that helps! Let me know how it works for you!
