2012-01-26 Recycling work discards
A number of months ago, the place where I work was “cleaning house” and discarding tons of old forms no longer used. I picked up an entire box of card stock weight lined paper. It’s old and starting to yellow…I would have done that to it anyway!
Here are some of the supplies I started out with…take note of the scraps of lined card stock.

And the really pink card I came up with using all of the pictured items and a few more accessories.

I shaded the die cut lined card stock. I forgot to stamp first and then die cut so I eye-balled the Just Rite decorative boarder and stamped. You can see all the layers here cut with various Nestabilities. You can also see that I added a little glimmer by drawing a circle around one of the shapes using the Stardust Jelly-Roll pen. I also dotted some of the 3-d glitter fabric paint on the stamped border.

These are my homemade stick pins. They were originally bright yellow flower tops which I painted with cream acrylic paint. I added crystal gems and carefully tucked the pointy bits through the ribbon knot and into the card stock below. I was able to feel a layer of paper and slide the pin in without going all the way through to the inside of the card.

Gorgeous card Bonnie, you would never know that the border strip of paper came from your office, you have transformed it beautifully. I like how the paper blossom peeks out from behind the sentiment. Love those stick-pins and what you have done to the tops. Beautifully embellished too. Nice work Bonnie. TFS!!!
Love this one, especially since it’s “recycled” stuff!
OMGosh Bonnie, this is fabulous! Of course it has your signature style and sparkle. The layers of the focal piece are amazing, especially when you see the recycled lined cardstock as the top layer and the bottom layer — too cool. LOVE it when you can recycle stuff like this. I just get boring ol’ chipboard from my workplace. Although now that I think about it the chipboard is usually from obsolete forms. Gotta go check the bins and ‘rescue’ craft-worthy items. THANKS for the tip!
Don’t you love it when you can get stuff for free? Love your creative card Bonnie! thanks for sharing it with us!
Very inspiring work. We all should take a second look at things around us and see what we can repurpose for papercrafting. Beautiful card, well done! Bonnie, thanks for the unique ideas. Grace
Lovely card. I also recycle stuff from my office. Great idea regarding the pins. Now I know what to do with my flower head quilting pins when they get dull! Thank you.
Great use of some throw away stuff!!! You are always thinking.
